myOS is a personal system for capturing your life — events, people, places, goals, and reflections. That means the data you store here can be deeply personal. We take that responsibility seriously.

This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.

The short version (plain English)

  • You own your data.
  • We only store what you choose to add.
  • We don't sell your data.
  • You can export or delete everything at any time.
  • Analytics are minimal and used only to improve the product.
  • Any AI-powered features are optional and scoped to your own data.

What data we collect

Account & authentication

To create and access your account, we store:

  • Your email address
  • Your authentication method (Google, Microsoft, passkey, or email)
  • A unique user ID and role (e.g. user or admin)

Passwords are never stored directly by myOS. Authentication is handled securely by our authentication provider.

Data you intentionally add

myOS stores information only when you choose to add it, including:

  • Timeline events and milestones
  • People in your life
  • Places that matter to you
  • Goals and progress
  • Collections (books, movies, games, etc.)
  • Tags and organization metadata
  • Check-ins (e.g. health or financial metrics)
  • Notes and descriptions

If you don't enter something, we don't have it.

Location data (optional)

Locations are entirely optional and flexible.

You can:

  • Add a place name only (e.g. "Home" or "Cairo")
  • Select a city or landmark
  • Choose a specific location using map autocomplete

Exact coordinates (latitude/longitude) are stored only if you explicitly select a location that includes them. myOS does not track your real-time location.

Location search and visualization use Google Maps services, but all requests are proxied through our server — your API keys and identity are not exposed.

Usage & technical data

We collect limited technical data to understand how the app is used, such as:

  • Page visits
  • Feature interactions
  • Performance and speed metrics

This data is aggregated and used to improve stability, usability, and performance — not for advertising.

Analytics

myOS uses:

  • Vercel Analytics
  • Vercel Speed Insights

These tools help us understand how features are used and how the app performs. We do not use ad networks, cross-site tracking, or fingerprinting.

Simply put: we measure features, not people.

Notifications

myOS may request permission to send browser notifications for features like timers or reminders.

  • Notifications are optional
  • You can enable or disable them at any time
  • You can revoke permission through your browser settings

AI & insights

Some features in myOS may use AI to surface insights or summaries that don't fit neatly into charts or dashboards.

Important principles:

  • AI features are optional
  • AI operates only on your own data and current context
  • Your data is not used to train public models
  • AI outputs are generated on demand, not stored unless you choose to save them

If we introduce new AI capabilities, this policy will be updated accordingly.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

Data is shared only with trusted infrastructure providers when necessary to operate the service, such as:

  • Hosting and database providers
  • Authentication services
  • Mapping services (when location features are used)

All sharing is limited to what's required for functionality.

Data export & deletion

You stay in control of your data at all times.

  • You can export your data in a structured format
  • You can delete your account and all associated data
  • Account deletion is permanent

Operational backups may exist for a short period, but deleted data is not accessible or restored.

Data security

We use industry-standard security practices, including:

  • Encrypted connections
  • Role-based access controls
  • Limited administrative access

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate steps to protect your information.

Children's privacy

myOS is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

As myOS evolves, this policy may be updated. If changes are significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify users within the app.
